| Last updated: August 5, 2026 Emily collects nothing. There is no Emily account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no server of ours. Your reading list belongs to you. Emily stores the links you save — their URL, title, site icon, your note, tags, folders, and read/archive state. This data lives in two places, both yours:
When you save a link, Emily contacts the website you saved — and only that website — to fetch the page's title and icon. This is an ordinary web request, the same one your browser would make; that site sees it like any other visit. Emily does not route your links through any intermediary service, and it makes no other network requests. Sync itself talks only to Apple's iCloud servers, covered by Apple's privacy policy. When you open the quick-add window (⌥Space), Emily checks your clipboard at that moment for a URL to prefill, purely as a convenience. Clipboard contents are never stored unless you choose to save the link, and never leave your device.
Emily is bought once, through the Mac App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. Delete links in the app and they are gone from your device and your iCloud database. To remove everything, delete the app's data from System Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Emily is not directed at children and, as described above, collects no data from anyone. If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Given what Emily collects — nothing — changes should be rare. If you have any questions about this privacy policy, contact: [email protected]. |
